Beautiful beaches, golf, and easy access to Benalmádena and Fuengirola — this is Torrequebrada.
Torrequebrada sits on the western edge of Benalmádena, very close to Fuengirola. The area stretches from the coastline up towards the hillside above.
Torrequebrada is known for its golf course — Torrequebrada Golf, a very nice 18-hole course surrounded by the residential area.
Another thing Torrequebrada is well known for is its beaches and smaller coves, along with a coastal promenade that in parts runs above the cliffs, with beach bars and restaurants along the way.
There you find Trocadero — a high quality restaurant, with beautiful views over the entire Fuengirola coastline, serving great food and drinks. I recommend it. On the other side of Trocadero, you also have Malibu Beach Bar, with music, sunbeds, and a pool.
For daily life, the area is practical. You have a big Mercadona, pharmacies, and pretty much all everyday services you need, and for everything else, you are right next to both Fuengirola and Benalmádena.
And 5 minutes away you have the Torremuelle train station connecting you directly to Málaga and Málaga airport. For families, there is the Benalmádena International College, a private international school covering early years all the way up to 18.
Let's move on to the properties. Because the area has been built over a long period, there is no single architectural style, and the quality varies a lot depending on the specific community.
The properties are mixed — mostly apartments close to the beach, townhouses and apartments further up, and villas in the hillside and near the golf course, with some newer developments in between.
Many apartments have larger interior space and terraces, compared to what you typically find in newer developments.
However, property conditions vary. Some are fully renovated, while most older ones will need upgrades, especially for the kitchens.
Most properties come with underground parking, but finding street parking is normally not an issue here.
Torrequebrada is mostly made up of steep, winding streets, and while many things are within walking distance, the terrain can make it more challenging.
So who is Torrequebrada best suited for? I'd say it's for someone who wants great beach access and all the everyday convenience in the area, without living in the center of Benalmádena or Fuengirola, but still being right next to it. It's less suited for someone looking for a flat, easily walkable neighbourhood, or properties with a modern resort-style environment with high-end amenities.
